ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet, during a regular session at the Prime Minister House, approved an increase in minority representation in the national and provincial assemblies, Express News reported on Wednesday.
The session, which was presided over by Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, also formed a committee, comprising three ministers, for assessing the degree to which this quota will be increased.
Earlier, Minister Incharge for National Harmony Dr Paul Bhatti sought more seats for minorities in the Senate, National and Provincial Assemblies, citing an increase in the national population.
The minister also urged the provincial and Fata administration to encourage employment of minority individuals in all public and private sectors.
It was decided that all provinces will face an equal amount of loadshedding whereas in Ramazan, there will be no loadshedding during Sehr, Iftar and Taraweeh timings.
The cabinet also stated that out of the 2,500MW of electricity shortfall that the country was facing, 2,000MW would be added to the grid by the end of the year.
